New Year Looks Inspired by Icons

The key to dressing for New Year is to “learn the dress code so you know how to break it”. Even if your New Year plans don’t require a tuxedo, you might want to wear something that hints at this traditional dress code. Once you are well-versed in how a tuxedo should be worn, you can start to experiment, changing a few details to make it truly your own. Using Jeff Goldblum as inspiration, you can create a New Year look that will go down in history. Though be careful, as there is a fine line between well-dressed and dress-up. Stick with items you can wear with natural confidence. You can, of course, try pushing the boundaries a little, especially when it comes to shoes, but try not to experiment with your dignity! Stick to black and white, choosing, for example, a black blazer with a black or white shirt, or even a turtleneck jumper, under. Black loafers in either leather or suede are a classic finishing touch.

Roxy Music frontman Bryan Ferry, known for such hits as Avalon, Take a Chance with Me and More Than This, could often be seen in a white tuxedo jacket, which he wore in a number of different outfits. Try wearing it black trousers and a bowtie, or even with a denim shirt and dotted neck scarf to truly emulate Ferry’s style.

Pointed lapels, satin knee socks, black bowtie, white pocket square and white tuxedo shirt. Proving that simple is often best, this classic and timeless tuxedo combination can do wonders for your style.
