The classic Scandinavian phrase “there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes” is used often to get yourself out during rainy days. But the term is not as applicable on days where there is no rain. If you want to avoid heat stroke when you’re out in nature and doing a physical activity it is important to dress correctly when the sun is beaming. With this in mind, we have created three outfits that are ideal for those who want to be out in nature during some of the summer’s warmest days.
Bucket hat and a long sleeve
A constant theme in outfits for summer activities is the need to protect yourself from the sun. In our first outfit, this protection comes in the form of a bucket hat and a long-sleeved t-shirt. Protecting your legs is trickier, as really hot weather requires shorts, which means that sunscreen has to do the job here. To maintain the fluid level, it is important to drink plenty of water. A durable titanium water bottle from Japan’s Snow Peak is easily hooked onto the backpack.
The practical look
Our second outfit is comprised with many garments from the American outdoor expert Columbia, who have provided nature interested people with shoes, clothes and accessories since 1938. The practical Field Creek vest has many pockets which make it possible to leave the rucksack at home, with space for the most important things. At the same time, their Omni-wick technology transports sweat away from the body, thus keeping you cooled and comfortable.
The prepared look
If you are hiking for long distances, it is important to be ready for all weather possibilities. As experiences hikers know, sudden weather changes can be the enemy. A sudden downpour is best combated by wearing waterproof boots on your feet and wearing a shell jacket with a Gore-Tex membrane close at hand. With dry feet and the hood on, you can do most things.
