A down vest is perhaps the most useful outer garment and warming layer available in men's clothing. The down vest can be used in a wide range of different functional and stylistic purposes, and gives the user much positive enjoyment in different ways. Firstly, you might think of the down vest as an outer garment to reinforce, for example, a knitted sweater. Furthermore, you can wear a down vest on top of a blazer with great advantage for a relaxed casual look. Under a coat, the down vest transforms the coat into a warmer winter coat, which also gives a completely new stylistic impression as the vest protrudes out from under the collar of the coat.

When you purchase a down vest, you wear it just like when buying any other garment, think about both the style and practical function you expect from your garment. Which upper and lower garments do you want to be able to wear your down vest with to create both stylish and functional combinations. That being said, there is stylistically room for far more than a down vest in a man's wardrobe. A navy blue waistcoat looks great paired with sweaters, jackets and blazers in blue, grey, brown, beige, green and patterns of these colours. A black waistcoat goes well in terms of colour with black, grey white or grey garments. Of course, there are a large number of exceptions to this advice, but they provide a good basis to start from when it comes to colour matching.
