About Merz b. Schwanen
It all started with a flea market find in Berlin. Peter Plotnicki came across a long-sleeved undershirt made in 1911 and immediately understood that it was a very special piece of fabric. The long-sleeved undershirt was purchased at one of the last knitwear factories in Germany, Merz b. Schwanen, which under the leadership of Balthazar Merz during its heyday employed about 2,000 workers. Through Peter Plotnicki and Rudolf Loden's vision and a machine park with circular knitting machines from the 1920s and 1960s, circular knitted garments are again manufactured in durable, high-quality and animal-friendly materials worthy of the Merz b. Schwanen label.
